SLADEA’s Mission

The mission of SLADEA is to reduce the high rate of illiteracy (a major hindrance to social, economic and political progress) among Sierra Leonean adults and to empower them through functional adult education programmes and activities. Ours is an education for self-reliance. Special emphasis is placed on the empowerment of women and young people in order to make them active initiators of and participants in their own developmental process.

SLADEA’s Strategic Plan
2026–2030

The SLADEA Strategic Plan 2026–2030 lays out a five-year roadmap to expand adult literacy, strengthen youth skills, promote participatory governance and peacebuilding and build climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods in Sierra Leone. It is a practical, community-focused plan built around three strategic priorities and supported by organizational strengthening, monitoring systems, stakeholder partnerships and risk management.
